Light a Candle

H6.jpg

Within the Christian tradition, the lighting of candles has long expressed the prayers we carry within. Christ spoke of Himself as the Light of the World, and so a burning candle can serve as a quiet reminder of His presence with us whenever we pray. Pilgrims often light candles in memory of those who have died, or to pray for the sick, or for anyone in need of particular grace and support.

All who visit the National Shrine of St Winefride are invited to light a candle in the Candle Cloister and offer their own personal prayers.

For those unable to travel to Holywell, the Shrine staff are able to light a candle on your behalf in the Candle Cloister, holding your intentions in prayer.

PLEASE NOTE:  If you experience a problem making a donation, please call the Shrine on 07542 268722 between 10 and 4pm weekdays.
